Our events for your diary in 2021

Our event plans are notably affected by COVID-19 and during this time we are focussing on activities behind the scene that will benefit us when COVID-19 restrictions are relaxed.

Therapy training in person is not viable at the moment but if you wish to learn Animal Reiki, Reiki training is a pre-requisite and online training is available. See our Therapy training page for more details

February 15th: Askham Bryan College virtual conference – lecture and lunchtime networking hour

Other events information

We only have a small team and so are focusing primarily on our therapy work with animals currently.

We give free local talks, therapy demonstrations as appropriate, and we exhibit at a few events. If you belong to a group or organisation that would be interested please get in touch.

We also welcome any volunteers with interest and/or experience in fundraising and events

A Few of Our Past Events

Friends Of Baxter Animal Care feature on Radio Leeds

Out of the blue, we received an invitation to feature on local radio discussing our holistic therapy work and a forthcoming Canine TTouch workshop. A wonderful morning was spent offering Reiki and TTouch to two lovely dogs and then discussing sessions and outcomes – a great morning! Thanks to Radio Leeds.

Careers with Animals Day - Leeds CAW

Each year just gets better at Leeds College of Animal Welfare! This is a fantastic event for anyone interested in the idea of working with animals, wanting to explore different possibilities, attend free talks and  and meet representatives from animal colleges, charities, businesses and more. We were amazed at the level of interest in holistic therapies with animals 🙂

Reiki Level 1 training

Another of our introductory Reiki training weekends proved to be most enjoyable and ended with our students able to give Reiki to themselves, friends and family for life. Feedback, as always, was delightful and we look forward to sharing this wonderful therapy with more people who want to help themselves, and loved ones (people and animals) at beginners and Practitioner level.

Friends Of Baxter Animal Care Canine Massage Workshop

Our Canine Massage and Mindfulness  workshop was a wonderful success. Attendees learned a gentle massage technique, which they practised on their dogs and the dogs clearly loved it! Feedback has been fabulous and more workshops are being arranged.

Middleton Park Dog Show

What a lovely day meeting the local community in a wonderful park, giving dogs taster Reiki sessions and spreading the work about our holistic complementary therapy treatments, free service for animals in rescue centres and training.

Our Sponsored Abseil at The Cow and Calf, Ilkley

One of our sponsored events – this abseil raised £705 and was immense fun. 5 of us stepped backwards off 100 ft tall rocks to abseil down, terrified of heights…so it was an achievement personally as well as a great fundraiser. Thank you to our brave volunteers and support team!

Leeds Health & Healing Festival

Our second year exhibiting at this event proved to be beneficial again in raising awareness of our work and giving lots of Reiki treatments!

Leeds 10k to raise funds

They did it! On one of the hottest days of the year, our three lovely volunteers, Heather, Sam and Charlotte ran the Leeds 10K for Friends Of Baxter Animal care. They’ve raised £690 so far, we can’t thank them enough! Well done ladies!

Tandem ParachuteJump

Our brave volunteer David Wood jumped out of a plane 10,000 feet high, free falling at 120 mph for 30 seconds before tandem-parachuting safely down. All in aid of our animal good cause. David has raised £464 for his brave stunt so far… thank you David!!!

Northern Birman Cat Club Show, Stocksbridge, April 7th

What a wonderful day we had meeting and talking to owners of Birman and other varieties of cats. A delightful number showed interested in our Reiki service for animals and we even offered some help to a cat at the owners request

Wakefield Vegan Fest, November 4th

This festival was full of stalls, talks, advice, music and entertainment. Had a great day meeting lots of lovely people and we had a lot of interest in Reiki and our various therapies for animals which is always a bonus!

Friends Of Baxter Therapy and Card Reading Evening - March 22

Our therapy practitioners and card readers were busy offering readings and treatments including Reiki, Reflexology, Indian Head Massage, Hopi Candle Ear treatments and relaxing Magnetix Mat Therapy whilst a small number of stalls sold some beautiful products.
